Naapi Calculator with Four Sides | Plot Area Nepal
Calculate plot area when four side lengths are given. Free naapi-style estimator using Brahmagupta and average-side methods, with Ropani-Aana-Paisa-Daam output.
How this works
s = (a+b+c+d)/2 Brahmagupta area = √((s-a)(s-b)(s-c)(s-d)) Average-side ≈ ((a+c)/2) × ((b+d)/2)
Worked example
A plot with sides 12, 10, 12, 10 m is nearly rectangular. Both methods should land close to 120 m² (~3.78 aana).
FAQ
How do I calculate naapi when four sides are given?
Measure all four boundary sides in order. For a roughly rectangular cyclic plot, Brahmagupta’s formula estimates area from the four sides. This tool also shows the average-side rectangle method used as a quick site check.
When is Brahmagupta not accurate?
Brahmagupta assumes a cyclic quadrilateral. Highly skewed plots, non-planar sites, or missing diagonal measurements need a surveyor’s closed traverse or a trace-map measurement for bank/legal work.
What units are returned?
Area is shown in m², ft², aana, and a Ropani-Aana-Paisa-Daam breakdown for Nepal land discussions.
Do I need the diagonal?
A diagonal improves accuracy by splitting the plot into two triangles. This four-side tool is for first estimates when only boundary lengths are known.
Can I use this for land registration?
No. Use official naapi / survey records for registration. This calculator is for planning and cross-checking field measurements.
