How this works

structural height = storeys × floor-to-floor
total height = plinth + structural height + parapet
clear floor ≈ floor-to-floor − slab thickness

Worked example

A 3-storey house at 3.0 m floor-to-floor, 0.6 m plinth, and 1.0 m parapet has structural height 9.0 m and total height about 10.6 m.

FAQ

What is a typical RCC house floor-to-floor height in Nepal?

Many residential projects use about 2.9–3.2 m floor-to-floor. Clear room height is lower after slab thickness and finishes. Confirm comfort, services, and municipal height limits for your design.

How is total building height calculated?

Total height ≈ plinth height + (storeys × floor-to-floor height) + parapet. Some municipalities measure height differently (road level, ridge, or parapet rules), so treat this as a planning check.

Does FAR decide height?

FAR limits total floor area, not height directly. Height is also controlled by storey caps, road width, and local bylaws. Use this with the Buildable Area calculator.

What parapet height should I use?

Residential parapets are often 0.9–1.2 m for safety. Enter the architectural parapet or railing height above the top slab.

Is this structural design advice?

No. It only adds geometric heights for planning and naksa discussions. Seismic design, column sizes, and soft-storey rules need an engineer.
